From Employee to Owner: A Wake Forest Success Story

SignCraft Solutions is a local gem with a big heart. A Wake Forest fixture since 2009, the company was built by founders Bob and Stephanie McEwen into a trusted name in custom commercial signage and vehicle wraps. When the McEwens retired in 2024, longtime employees Pam Anastasi and her business partner Matt Key were the natural choice to carry the business forward.

For Anastasi, the transition from employee to owner has been both rewarding and challenging. Today, SignCraft Solutions is a woman-owned business celebrating 17 years of success, with its next chapter already taking shape.

SignCraft Solutions creates custom interior and exterior signage and vehicle wraps for businesses across the United States and Canada. Their mission is straightforward: help businesses get noticed, attract customers, and grow.

“The quicker our customers’ signs go up, the sooner they get recognized and the faster business rolls in for them,” said Anastasi.

That customer-focused mindset continues to drive the company’s growth. In 2025, Anastasi participated in the Wake Forest Founders Accelerator, a program designed to help local entrepreneurs gain the resources, connections, and confidence needed to take their businesses to the next level.

The experience delivered more than she expected.

Beyond building valuable relationships and friendships with fellow entrepreneurs, Anastasi earned a second-place finish in the Founders Pitch Competition. SignCraft Solutions used the prize funding to purchase iPads for its field team, improving communication, reducing errors, decreasing paper usage, and helping projects move more efficiently from start to finish.

The company has stayed busy ever since. Recent projects include work for UNC Johnston Hospital, an apartment community in Charlotte, and a major project currently underway in Charleston, South Carolina.

At the same time, SignCraft Solutions continues to look for ways to operate more sustainably. The company recently added an electric vehicle to its fleet for installations and site surveys. In December 2025, SignCraft Solutions was also selected to participate in Illuminate Raleigh, creating a recycled illuminated art installation displayed on Fayetteville Street for an entire month.

After the event concluded, the installation found a permanent home in Wake Forest, where it can now be seen at the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce office on South White Street. The project reflects the company's commitment to finding creative ways to support both the community and the environment.

Looking ahead, Anastasi remains focused on continued growth, expanding sustainable business practices, and eventually securing a larger facility that will allow SignCraft Solutions additional room to grow.

Her advice to fellow entrepreneurs is simple: “Never give up, stay open to advice, and don't be afraid to ask for help.”

Jason Cannon, President of the Wake Forest Business & Industry Partnership (WFBIP), believes SignCraft Solutions represents the kind of success story that strengthens the local business community.

“SignCraft Solutions is a perfect example of what happens when a community invests in its entrepreneurs,” said Cannon. “Pam and her team are contributing to the economic fabric of Wake Forest and the surrounding region. When a woman-owned company with 17 years of history keeps growing, takes on major projects, creates jobs, and gives back, that is exactly the kind of momentum we have worked consistently to build here.”

As SignCraft Solutions continues to grow, its story serves as a reminder that some of the strongest businesses are built not only on expertise and hard work but also on relationships, community support, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities.
